With over 30,000 EV Chargers installed in the US, Powerflex is one of the largest L2 EV Charging networks. Tens of thousands of drivers charge their vehicles every month with Powerflex.
The Product Designer will be responsible for the driver experience at Powerflex, from the time a driver pulls into a parking spot to when they finish charging. The driver experience includes the mobile app that is used for charging kiosks and the experience with the actual EV Charging equipment.
This role will work closely with the driver experience engineering team and product manager to deliver an incredibly simple and intuitive experience for each driver.
Location
This role will be a hybrid position based out of our Mountain View, CA Office, and the selected candidate will be expected to be in-person 3 days a week. We will only be able to consider applicants who are local to Mountain View, CA or are willing to relocate.
Responsibilities
End-to-end product design for the Driver Experience
Utilize experience (using a personal or company EV) to deeply empathize with drivers
Work closely with the hardware and mobile app teams to design the driver experience, from the physical messaging on EV chargers to the mobile app experience.
Run user studies to understand the challenges of EV drivers when charging and to validate that the changes we make to the user experience address those challenges.
Do product discovery with the team to arrive at the best solutions to the problems we are working on.
Create wireframes, mocks, high fidelity prototypes and interaction designs to visualize design concepts.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
3+ years of experience as a product designer
Strong background working for one or more technology companies as a product designer.
Experience with Electric Vehicles and EV Charging preferred, but not required
Solid understanding of the full product lifecycle, from concept and design through to launch and post-launch support, with a strong track record of designing successful products.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
A strong interest in renewable energy is preferred
The ability to define and prioritize design tasks including user research, product discovery, mocking potential designs, user testing, etc.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, using data to inform design decisions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into simple user experiences.
A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
Compensation
The pay range for this position is $72,000 - $120,000 annually. This position is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare plans including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan and paid time off. The total compensation for this position may include an annual performance bonus (or other incentive compensation, as applicable). PowerFlex's compensation packages carefully consider a candidate's qualifications, experiences, and education in relation to the position.
Physical Requirements
Remaining in a seated position. Long hours on computer keyboard. Prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
Working Conditions
Approximately 80% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. Possibly 20% of the time is spent traveling to conferences or meetings or field traveling to project sites.
