About the Position

The Health Information (HIM) Manager manages the day-to-day duties in the department, provides oversight and leadership for the staff, identifies opportunities to improve external and internal customer satisfaction, assists in streamlining workflows, oversees quality assurance, and tracks metrics for the department. The HIM Manager ensures traditional and digital medical data is accurate, accessible, and secure. The HIM Manager analyzes digital and traditional medical information vital to providing quality patient care. In coordination with Director, the HIM Manager ensures the department is staffed appropriately, and provides training, mentoring, and coaching for the staff.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations for the employees and monitors team performance.Interview and select candidates in accordance with departmental policy.Accommodate unplanned (emergency) and planned (holidays, meetings) closures, HIM flow improvements and routine updates.Provide support in Health Information System (HIS) configuration and other software used to bring greater efficiency to information management.Mentor, train, and support clinical staff including providers to ensure that they are set up appropriately to process documents across the organization.Maintain and update department SharePoint page.Promote feedback and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify ways of enhancing medical records daily operations.Process, transfer, and secure patient data within Legacy or other healthcare partners.Track key performance indicators to show trends and identify opportunities for improvement.Conduct audits of patient documentation to ensure accuracy.Develop and maintain reports specific to HIM system software.Coordinate the management of work queues, pools, and projects within area of responsibility.Use workforce management software to create, review, and/or approve employee schedules to ensure adequate staffing for anticipated medical records scanning volume and any distribution of incoming clinical documentation.Provide feedback on workflows and processes.Participate in monthly leadership meetings and conduct monthly staff meetings.Respond to inquiries of staff, for the purpose of providing information and/or direction, discussing and resolving any issues.Perform other duties as assigned.About Legacy Community Health

High school diploma or equivalent is required.Four (4) years of experience in health information management.One (1) year experience in a supervisor or higher-level leadership position.Demonstrated ability to develop and implement workflow processes and procedures is required.Benefits
