The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) supports students and their families to ensure positive social interactions and academic success. They are expected to collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school staff to create a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment for all students. The BCBA identifies concerns and trends at the individual, class, and school level, and works in connection with the Counselor and SEL Specialist, school-based student support teams, teachers, and the Principal to implement effective interventions and initiatives. This job description is meant to provide structure to the responsibilities and accountability of this position. There may be additional responsibilities that the Behavior Analyst undertakes or that are assigned as needs of students and of the school arise. The BCBA reports to the Principal. This is a 10-month position which is exempt and therefore not eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The responsibilities of the Behavior Analyst include:

Behavior Assessment & Data Analysis

Complete comprehensive functional behavioral assessments and behavior plans for general education and special education students. Review and update behavior intervention plans and assessments accordingly in a timely manner using data analysis. Interacting and sharing data with parents and caregivers based on observations from individual students. Attending IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and student progress meetings as requested. Behavior Response

Plans and supports the development and implementation of programs, policies, and best practices relative to the management of students’ behaviors, including, but not limited to students with Autism, emotional disturbance, other disabilities as well as students with IEP plans and/or in general education. Assessing crisis situations and defusing situations using conflict resolution and crisis management techniques. Providing value clarification including rules, expectations, and consequences. Provides inservice support in areas related to behavior response strategies. Keeps abreast of current research and information and provides training for teachers, specialists, instructional assistants, and other staff in areas related to behavior management, avoidance of aversive techniques, and managing assaultive behavior. Utilizing evidence-based behavioral strategies, such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques, to teach new skills to the student in order to improve behavior management. Assisting the school team by monitoring student behavior changes, assisting with academics, and supervising various activities during the course of the instructional day to maintain a controlled and safe environment for students and staff. With proper training, physically restrain students if necessary for safety. Attends training regarding safety, security, physical restraining and behavior management procedures as required. School and Community Support

Working with the School Wellness team, School Leaders, and teachers to develop an effective program of interventions for maladaptive behavior of students. Complete detailed service logs documenting how services were delivered. Ensuring consistency of behavioral standards by coordinating with appropriate student contacts and providing updates when available. Collaborating with teachers, parents, and administration to find effective solutions for meeting learning and behavior needs. Implementing behavioral programs and interventions designed to make positive and appropriate changes. Reinforcing appropriate behaviors and redirecting negative behaviors. Reporting any pertinent information to the proper authorities in cases of child endangerment, neglect, or abuse. Implementing the school’s emergency procedures as requested. Professional Responsibilities

Contributing to a positive school culture. Attending and participating in school events. All instructional staff are required to attend at least two parent workshops/family events each year. Communicating promptly with teachers, administrators, colleagues, and parents. Being on time for classes, duties, team meetings, and professional development time. Communicate about and plan for absences in advance with teachers and the leadership team. Supervising students during lunch and/or recess as determined by the campus duty schedule. Commitment to ongoing personal training and development as it relates to clinical skills, professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to perform job responsibilities to required standards. Performing other duties as needed and assigned by the Principal. Minimum required qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related human services field. Certified as a BCBA for a minimum of two years. Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal). Spanish speakers are desired. In addition to the above requirements, candidates must meet the requirements of all hires at Capital City including a criminal background check. About Our School
