Anchorage, AK or RemoteJOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for the supervision and coordination of payroll staff. Must ensure pay is processed in an accurate and timely manner while in compliance with government regulations.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESEmbrace the values of The Aleut Corporation (Aleut) including honesty, integrity, accountability, respect, and perseverance.Supervision and overall responsibility for all payroll functions and staff.Calculation of wages, overtime, deductions, contributions, and leave accruals & balances in compliance with current federal and state laws, any collective bargaining agreements, and wage determinations.Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour and labor laws.Stay current on Payroll system capabilities and functionalities to achieve alignment with HR and Benefits and other payroll related activities.Initiates changes in work assignments or processes to improve efficiency.Preparation, distribution, and report processes for payroll for a multi-state corporation(s).Coordinates with Payroll Tax Specialist to ensure payroll and tax payments and associated reporting are distributed timely and accurately.Prepares Union Payments and Reporting to required agenciesPrepare Certified Payroll Reports (CPR) as required by customers/contracts.Weekly/Bi-weekly reconciliation of 401k deductions deferred to planCoordinates day-to-day activities and communication between Payroll Department and other internal departments in accordance with set priorities.Facilitate management and employee understanding of payroll processes and procedures.Coordination with accounting, benefit, and human resource staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of any payroll related information.Work with project staff to ensure all Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), Service Contract Act (SCA), Davis Bacon, Fair Labor Standards.Perform other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESAbility to meet deadlines; maintain attention to detail and accuracy.Knowledge of supervisory principles.Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations related to payroll.Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.Professional intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Thorough understanding of generally accepted auditing standards.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociate's degree in accounting or related field; OR equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.Three (3) years of professional payroll experience.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working with Costpoint and Sage Intacct.Experience working in government contracting and construction EAC’s analysis.Experience working with Alaska Native Corporations (ANC’s).BENEFITS401K - Employer matching up to 4%.Paid Holidays (13/year).Paid Time Off (accrued bi-weekly, starts at 6.20 hrs per pay period/20 days a year).100% Employer paid Dental/Vision for employees and qualified dependents.100% Paid Employee Life Insurance / Disability.Potential for Annual Incentive.PREFERENCE STATEMENTThe Aleut Corporation (“Aleut”) is committed to providing employment and development opportunities for our shareholders and descendants.
