NADA is searching for a
Director, Media Relations
to take the lead in shaping our media messaging, building strong relationships with key media contacts, and crafting compelling narratives that advance our mission and the interests of our members. In this dynamic role, you’ll work alongside a team of communications professionals to drive our media engagement efforts and support critical advocacy campaigns.
This is a full-time position with a healthy work culture, competitive salary, and excellent benefits. Duties require travel, comprising 25% of the role at times.
The key responsibilities of the Director, Media Relations:
Serve as a lead media strategist and spokesperson for NADA. Develop and nurture strong relationships with journalists and key media contacts, advancing NADA’s visibility and messaging across key outlets.Oversee the creation and implementation of media relations strategies to amplify NADA’s goals and address issues critical to the automotive industry and our members.Draft and edit news releases, op-eds, talking points, backgrounders, speeches, and other editorial materials. Ensure all messaging is aligned with NADA’s strategic objectives.Develop and maintain a comprehensive editorial calendar for all communications activities. Ensure timely and relevant content delivery aligned with our advocacy and organizational goals.Oversee media monitoring, tracking nationwide print and broadcast coverage, and measuring impact. Use insights to refine messaging and media engagement strategies.Support state and metro dealer associations by providing strategic media guidance and consulting with automotive executives on high-impact media opportunities.Required Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field preferred.Minimum 7 years of experience in media relations, journalism, or communications, with a proven track record of working with media professionals and executives.Experience with planning and executing press conferences and media events.Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
