Position: Planning DirectorThe City of Decatur, Alabama, is seeking a Planning Director to manage and guide the growth, development, and land use within the City. The Planning Department consists of the Director, two planners, and a Planning Technician.Responsibilities:

Oversee the Planning Department and its operations.Manage land use planning and development processes.Provide leadership and direction to subordinate staff.Engage with community stakeholders and address planning issues.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in urban/regional planning, public administration, or a related field; a graduate degree is preferred.Ten (10) or more years of experience in a similar position, including supervisory and management experience.Current AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners) certification.Salary:

$87,523 to $133,178 DOQ, with an excellent benefits package including Alabama state retirement. Residency is preferred, and relocation assistance is available.Interested candidates should apply online at
