Job Summary
The Sr. Designer/Checker, Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) is a senior-level design/drafting position, responsible for producing design layouts and finished drawings. Incumbents will be assigned to custom jobs involving, but not limited to, 3D Modeling, design sketches, engineering support, layout and final drawings, and checking of all drawings assigned to them to assure that the drawings are accurate and error-free. The EI&C Sr. Designer/Checker role may act as a discipline design lead for projects, managing internal and external resources. Essential Functions
Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values." Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics." Assists the Squad Leader in determining how to best to meet job requirements, coordinating jobs and conducting training. Assists Drafters in lower classifications with questions/issues during performance of project work. Prepares and manages scope, budget and schedule for projects or assignments; this includes any discipline internal or external resources assigned to support their projects are within scope, budget and schedule. Performs basic and complex layouts. Produces new drawings as well as checks drawings for accuracy and completeness. Pick-up red marks from check prints and correct drawings as required. Performs detailed dimensional and bill of material check of all drawings. Checks entire job for interferences, safety, constructability, and overall quality assurance. Perform additional responsibilities as directed or required. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred, or equivalent combination of education/experience in lieu of degree. 4+ years of related Electrical and I&C design experience in the Oil and Gas, Petrochem, or Chemical industries. Advanced AutoCAD knowledge; experience with AVEVA platform highly preferred. Proficiency modeling cable tray and electrical equipment enclosures, preferably in AVEVA E3D. Knowledge and understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC). Demonstratable success in industrial power distribution projects including medium voltage utility tie in down through low voltage facility distribution is required; such experience in the Oil and Gas industry is preferred. General understanding of electrical and instrumentation equipment fabrication, purchasing, and field installation. General understanding of fabrication, purchasing, and field construction. Safety in Design exposure highly preferred. Experience sizing cables, conduit, and cable tray is preferred. Experience performing basic ampacity and voltage drop calculations is preferred.
