Job Description

We are hiring a Supported Employment Specialist to support Western Behavioral Health at Mon Yough.

The incumbent is primarily responsible for carrying out the services of the supported employment program by assisting consumers in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their vocational goals and recovery.

The shift for this position is Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 with flexibility to accommodate client schedules. The incumbent will work in the community as well as the office, and a work vehicle will be provided. Affordable parking is available nearby.

Responsibilities:Partners with consumers to find jobs that match their needs and interests, following recovery principles and evidence-based practices.Spends time in the community to support consumers, families, and employers.Completes all required documentation, meeting state and program guidelines.Assists other specialists in training consumers for job tasks.Provides ongoing support to help consumers maintain employment.Continuously assesses consumers' vocational functioning.Educates and supports employers, including negotiating job accommodations.Establishes trusting relationships aimed at competitive employment.Meets with treatment team members to integrate vocational services into mental health treatment.Supports a caseload and develops vocational plans with monthly updates.Accompanies consumers to job-related activities as needed.Completes 24 hours of staff training annually.Supports UPMC's mission, vision, and policies.Provides outreach to re-engage consumers and maintains contact even without a vocational focus.Identifies and matches consumers' interests, strengths, and challenges with suitable jobs.Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Counseling, Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or other human service field, including at least 12 credit hours in human services related education, and with 1 year of related experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health related experience.Experience with people with severe mental illness, experience with vocational services, and knowledge of the work world are preferred.Ability to work as an effective team player is essential.Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings/weekends/holidays.Basic computer skills.
