The laborer/helper will assist with production, perform general labor tasks, maintain plant housekeeping, assist with routine maintenance on plant and equipment and provide assistance in all areas of the plant as needed. This is a night shift position; however, schedules may change from time-to-time, depending on business needs.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a clean and safe work environment. These duties include primarily shoveling spillage areas, also to include lubricating machinery, monitor the plant conveyors, shakers, crushers, feeders, and pumps, heavy ground maintenance, and inspect plant daily.Maintains yard and equipmentCleans conveyor belt areas and performs minor preventive maintenance and replaces worn/damaged components as needed. Assists with other maintenance as neededFollow all safety and environmental rules, regulations and procedures as set forth by company policies, MSHA, TCEQ and other regulatorsAssist with operation of other equipment, such as skid steer and water truck, as neededAdhere to MSHA and plant safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulationsPerform duties with minimum supervisionPerforms other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma, GED or equivalent experienceStable work historyPlant experience a plusKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, possible weekends, overtime, and holidays as neededMust be able to read equipment operating manualMust be able to complete pre-shift inspection reportMust be able to read and interpret gaugesMust be able to wear all required safety equipmentMust be able to communicate over CB radio or with hand signals and warning sounds, with coworkers regarding movement of vehicles and mobile equipmentMust be service oriented with proven ability to work in a TEAM environmentMust be able to follow instructions as well as make some independent decisionsMust be able to perform duties in a safe and environmentally responsible mannerPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoesMust be able to climb stairs and ladders on a repetitive basisMust be able to use tools such as brooms/mops, shovels, weed eater, wheelbarrow and similar to perform dutiesMust be able to stoop, bend and lift 100 lbs. from ground to waist level on a repetitive basisMust work outside in all weather conditions consistent with extreme ambient temperatures: heat, cold, wetness, dryness, dust, and noisy conditionsMust be able to work at various heightsMust have good hand/eye coordination and be able to operate hand/foot controlsPossess good vision to perceive depth at close range and distances up to 150 feetMust be able to climb on and off equipment to operate and serviceMust be able to bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel in limited space in cab of vehicleMust be able to sit and operate equipment for long periods up to 10+ hours per day
WORKING CONDITIONS
There will be times when outside assignments may require periods of work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
