In this position, you will be responsible for meeting and exceeding revenue targets by focusing on group market sales within a designated geographic region. Your main duties will include generating hotel awareness through direct outreach, including phone sales, direct sales calls, tradeshows, and networking events. You will work closely with the sales and marketing teams to identify, sell, and secure group business that aligns with the hotel's budgeted sales goals. This role is results-driven, and you will be expected to quickly adapt to changes in policies, procedures, and work environments.
As a Senior Group Sales Manager, you will represent both yourself and the hotel with professionalism, integrity, and a service-oriented mindset, always maintaining a positive, customer-focused attitude.
Responsibilities:Account Development : Identify and cultivate new and existing accounts by analyzing business needs and buying behaviors. Create detailed group profiles for each event and maintain organized, professional follow-up plans for ongoing correspondence.Sales Outreach : Conduct daily phone outreach to new and existing clients within a defined geographic region to generate leads and secure business.Lead and Inquiry Management : Respond promptly to all incoming leads, RFPs, phone calls, and emails, ensuring timely and effective communication with prospective clients.Sales Reporting : Complete weekly Sales Productivity Reports to track progress against goals and maintain accurate sales data.Market Promotion : Raise brand awareness in corporate, incentive, and association markets by traveling to key regions, delivering presentations, and making in-person sales calls.Relationship Building: Secure new and repeat business by developing and maintaining relationships with Convention and Visitors Bureaus, travel agencies, National Sales Offices (NSOs), and professional associations within the assigned region.Sales Planning : Develop and execute a targeted sales plan tailored to your market segment to maximize sales opportunities.Property Tours & Client Engagement : Host tours of the hotel for potential clients, including meeting planners and decision-makers, showcasing the hotel's services and facilities. Entertain clients during site inspections, pre-planning visits, and event operations as needed.Sales Coordination : Collaborate with the Director of Sales to coordinate sales activities and negotiate contracts to ensure maximum profitability while meeting client needs.System Proficiency : Utilize the Opera S&C and DelphiFDC account management system effectively to manage accounts and track client interactions. Maintain awareness of local and regional competition to stay ahead in the market.Professionalism & Standards : Conduct all sales-related activities with the highest level of professionalism, consistently upholding Westgate Hotel standards and values.Compliance : Adhere to all Westgate Hotel work rules and standards of conduct.Guest Satisfaction : Meet with groups on property to ensure guest satisfaction and resolve any issues that arise during their stay.Sales Forecasting & Reporting : Generate monthly Sales Reports and rolling forecasts to track performance and forecast future business opportunities.Qualifications:
A minimum of five years experience in Group Sales within a full-service luxury hotel (preferably with a four- or five-diamond rating).Must be able to work some weekends to oversee event execution and be on-site Hotel contact.Must be able to work some holidays when necessary.Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in task forces and special hotel committees as required.Proven ability to create, manage, and maintain business accounts effectively.Advanced proficiency in both spoken and written English.Strong communication skills, both over the phone and in person.Exceptional writing and oral presentation abilities.Proficient with operating computer systems and related technology.Solid understanding of hotel operations and the hospitality industry.In-depth knowledge of various distribution channels, with expertise in CVENT for event and group sales management.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, with strong organizational and computer skills.Strong organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills, with a keen attention to detail and effective time management.Knowledge of Opera PMS, Opera Sales & Catering, and DelphiFDC.Proficiency in additional languages preferred.Completion of a structured Sales Training program or relevant certification is a plus!Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects such as tables, chairs, or boxes (up to 50 lbs) on occasion.Bending and kneeling as needed for tasks like taping down cords or skirting tables, and occasionally picking up the floor after events.Ability to mobility and service clients promptly, with occasional walking over variable distances.Standing for extended periods during functions, client site inspections, or event observations (typically 1-4 hours).Talking and hearing, both in person and via telephone; ability to handle and manipulate objects or controls.Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment, as well as prolonged periods of sitting while working on a computer.What We Offer:
