HealthPartners is hiring a Data Abstraction Specialist, HEDIS. This position completes chart retrieval and abstraction to support our annual HEDIS* compliance audit, MN Community Measurement (MNCM) and data collection for other departments in the company.*HEDIS - Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set. Reporting national HEDIS rates is a required part of our health plan accreditation process. HealthPartners is also required to submit these rates to the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Government regulators, health plans, provider organizations, employers use HEDIS to compare plan performance.This role will be a casual position / not benefits eligible. The core hours will be between the months of January and May and they will work around 25-35 hours per week. During the months June through December there will be limited hours available but they may have an opportunity for some project work.ACCOUNTABILITIES:Conducts data collection and abstraction of medical records for quality audits and other projectsCoordinates chart review with medical groups/clinicsUtilizes claims system to research member encounters to supplement work processAccurately enters abstracted data into data entry toolSupports the HEDIS audit as assignedSupports for data collection for risk adjustment audits throughout the yearPerforms other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in related field or four years related work experience in lieu of degreeFour years' experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems or at least four years experience in the health care industry preferably in data abstraction, medical chart review, utilization review, prior authorization, case management, or clinical data/reporting in an EMRKnowledge of medical terminology, clinical data and medical recordsEffective organizational skills and ability to work independently to coordinate, prioritize and complete work assignmentsEffective written and verbal communication skillsExercise initiative, flexibility and willingness to work with a team for a common goalGood computer skills including Microsoft office products and ability to learn new software used for data entryPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:RN or LPNBachelor's degree in related fieldHMO or Managed care experienceDECISION-MAKING:Use body of knowledge, health care experience and training materials to independently work with clinics to complete chart review projects.
