Roll Shop Technician:Plans, coordinates, and performs basic roll shop functions. Maintain Hot Mill and Cold Mill rolls to maximize effectiveness in a timely manner. Responsibilities include:Follow and abide by all plant safety policies and guidelinesPerform basic chocking/dechocking of work rolls independentlyPerform basic chocking/dechocking of back-up rolls with minimal supervisionProficient use and understanding of precision measurement instruments such as dial indicators, hand micrometers of various sizes, and digital calipers, among others.Operate and troubleshoot Roll grinding equipmentGrind rolls on WMW and Landis Roll Grinders per Roll Shop SpecificationsMaintain and demonstrate excellent recordkeeping with documentation for tracking various parameters for each roll grindCompose & send daily shift reports on all activities performedCoordinate and work on roll-change related tasks with Hot mill and Cold mill employeesPerform daily, weekly, and monthly Maintenance PMs on both roll grinders and all other equipment in the roll shopInspect & replace seals in roll chocksBasic mechanical & troubleshooting skills are requiredInspect, troubleshoot, and perform basic mechanical repairs on Roll Shop equipment and roll chock related equipmentPerform Bearing PMs as assigned (training will be provided and required prior this task)Remove, rebuild, and reinstall hydraulic cylinders in roll chocks as assignedMaintain housekeeping in Area of ResponsibilityLearn Cold mill stations and help Cold Mill as needed (Trucker and Pay-off positions)
