Join us at Cleric We're building a future where engineers are focused on designing and building products, freeing them from operational toil. We're starting with an AI-powered SRE agent that remediates issues in production environments autonomously. It uses an LLM-based reasoning engine to react to, interpret, and implement solutions to production issues, even those it's encountering for the first time.

Now is a divine time to join. We're a small group of veterans in AI, software, and infrastructure, backed by a leading AI venture capital firm and Silicon Valley angels. Our product is in production at high-scale technology companies in fintech, ride-hailing, and autonomous vehicles.

About the role We're hiring a software engineer to build the core systems that power Cleric. You'll develop the foundational components that enable Cleric to perform at scale, including the environments for testing, training, and evaluation. Your work will be crucial in ensuring Cleric's reliability, scalability, and performance in the complex production environments of our customers.

About you You're an experienced software engineer with a strong background in building scalable, high performance platforms. You are comfortable with both backend and infrastructural work as needed, can pick up frameworks quickly, and can deliver high-quality work.

Beyond your technical proficiency, you are forward-thinking and actively seek out opportunities to challenge the status quo. You have strong opinions on how to build high quality software, and how your work impacts the lives of customers.

You have:

5+ years of experience as a software engineer Deep expertise in Python and its ecosystem Extensive experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and Terraform and major cloud providers Strong understanding of observability practices and tools for distributed systems Experience building and maintaining production-grade infrastructure Obsessed with CD and helping engineering teams ship quickly Belief in rigorous testing and observability systems to ensure confident deployments and operations Nice to have: Knowledge of AI infrastructure components like vector stores and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)

Previous role in a startup environment, comfortable with rapid iteration and adaptable to shifting priorities

What you'll do Design and implement the core platform that powers Cleric's testing, training, and evaluation processes Develop scalable systems for extracting and indexing information from customer environments Build and maintain the high-performance subsystems of Cleric to handle large scale event processing Set up comprehensive observability and telemetry systems to monitor Cleric's performance Implement efficient data pipelines for log aggregation, metrics collection, and distributed tracing Contribute to our continuous deployment pipeline and maintain high standards for test coverage Collaborate with AI and product teams to optimize Cleric's performance and expand its capabilities Work closely with early customers to understand their infrastructure needs and translate them into product improvements How we work Small teams, big impact: We believe that small teams can deliver great products. Culture matters: We value radical candor in a positive and inclusive work environment. In-person collaboration: We believe in working closely to deliver the best results. AI-first approach: We don't simply build AI products; we augment ourselves with it. Interview process (you'll meet most of the team via the process) Intro Call Discuss your experience, the company, product, and the role. Software Engineering Session (1 hour) Collaboratively build a simple application. Focus on practical software engineering, not algorithm challenges. System Design Session (90 mins) Work through a system design problem relevant to your daily work. Product Thinking and Frontend Engineering (60 mins) Discuss perspectives on product thinking and frontend engineering. Food, Enjoy coffee/lunch/dinner with both founders. Discuss team culture, your motivations, and any deep questions you may have.
