Job Description:SummaryThe Director of Engineering for ProPetro Energy Solutions, LLC is responsible for leading technical design, evaluation and field engineering aspects of Power Generation and Electrical equipment scope from design phase to technical field implementation. Working collaboratively thru a matrix organization, within ProPetro and affiliate businesses, supporting Operations, Commercial, HSE, Purchasing and other stakeholders to meet technical requirements for new build equipment, front-end project engineering, back-end project management, field deployment and operational excellence of generator thru balance of plant in a power installation. This role is laser focused on ensuring ProPetro is receiving the best technology, which meets all requirements for a wide variety of projects with varying scopes while ensuring internal stakeholders have all necessary information to deploy safely and efficiently in the field.ResponsibilitiesEstablishment and leadership of engineering programs and standard engineering practices and report regularly to the President on achievement of set plans.Lead vendor equipment evaluation, design and manage build process through project management focused culture to meet critical deadlines for project deployment.Drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, process efficiency and knowledge sharingMaintain engineering KPIs, analyze trends and proactively make adjustments to positively impact results.Ensure engineering and operations personnel are qualified, trained and competent to provide required service and support in field implementation and support of power generation equipment and electrical gearDevelop training programs throughout the engineering organizationFoster a culture of quality and safety while effectively collaborating within a matrix organization to meet customer demand.Control engineering and equipment deliverables by monitoring partner builds, staying up to date on the latest power and electrical trends/solutions and present to leadership in areas we can differentiate our service offering or add value to the organization.Work closely with Senior Operations Management to optimize field installation best practices, maintenance efforts on power gen or electrical gear, report progress and enhance team technical capabilities.Lead as SME for Electrical Engineering, Microgrid/Plant controls, power generation, electrical systems protections as well as remote operations of power generation and electrical gear.Implement a project management program and track front-end, back-end and project engineering for field deployments and equipment builds/development.Responsible for evaluating technical capabilities of partners and suppliers for power generation and electrical gear.Engage closely with Engineering and other peer departments to leverage equipment performance and sensor data to identify proactively maintain equipment. Spearhead the transition to proportionally more preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure ProPetro's competitive position.Act as supervisory direct report for assigned personnel (i.e., performance management, corrective action, training, defining daily priorities, creating work schedules, etc.)Manage time and attendance for assigned personnel including timecard approval or paid time offOversee the hiring of assigned personnel (i.e., collaborate with Human Resources recruiters, perform interviews, select qualified talent, etc.)Maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by attending all required HSE training sessions, safety meetings, and always utilize proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Other job duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering required, Electrical preferredMinimum of 7-years in electrical or power systems industryElectrical field experience preferredExperience in working for or with utility providers preferredExperience working with software and power system tools: Power Systems modeling software, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Matlab, ETAP and other electrical engineering software strongly preferredCapable of producing single-line and three-line diagramsPerforming electrical calculations at local plant and T&D levelsExperience with transformers, switchgear, switchboards, protection relays (island & grid parallel)Expert level understanding of AC (LV, MV & HV), DC systemsExpert level in controls for power systems, power plants and remote management of asset typesExperience of machine learning, algorithms and/or AI experience is a plusExperience working with and managing vendors/suppliersResponsive, action oriented and capable of meeting project deadlinesProven track record in planning, prioritizing and executing to meet timelines and commitmentsStrong prioritization and decision-making skillsAdvanced analytical, presentation and communication (verbal and written) skillsSkilled at developing others, including training and building up overall team competencyDemonstrated collaboration and influencing skillsComfortable with dual responsibilities as individual contributor and management of othersComfortable with travel (~50% of time) and leading field deployment of front-end engineered Power SystemsMust live in and/or around the Houston, TX area or be willing to relocatePhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
