If this is done ineffectively, we could run out of material without enough lead time to obtain more, incur expedite costs, or even shut down a customer. This position must determine the most effective packaging and the correct quantities for new model start-ups. If poor decisions are made, we may encounter damages to the parts transported, excess freight costs (if containers are not space-efficient), or mis-ship due to not having enough containers. This position oversees the cycle count process and reconciliation reporting. If this is ineffective, our reported inventory will not match the actual, and we may incur component shortages, unnecessary changeovers, inefficient production, or even mis-ships to the customer. This position ensures accurate and efficient distribution of materials to the shop floor. If this is done poorly, we may face machine downtime, inefficient use of labor, and maybe mis-ships to the customer. This position oversees the execution of the production scheduling process.
