Job Description
Position Overview:
The Director of Postsecondary Match and Success at KIPP Kansas City will be responsible for leading the postsecondary match process for all high school students, ensuring they are prepared for postsecondary opportunities, and successfully navigating the college application, admissions, and financial aid processes. This position will support students, families, and school staff by providing strategic leadership in aligning postsecondary pathways with students' aspirations and abilities. Reporting to the Senior Director of Student Experiences & Community Engagement, the Director will play a critical role in achieving the region's postsecondary access and success goals.
Key Responsibilities:Postsecondary Pathway Access Knowledge and SkillsStay current with policies, trends, and updates in postsecondary education, financial aid, and support for special populations (e.g., undocumented students, students with IEPs, first-generation college students).Provide expert guidance and support to school leaders, counselors, and directors on postsecondary pathways, including selective colleges, community colleges, and non-traditional or progressive pathways.Offer coaching to school teams on navigating unique circumstances of students through the postsecondary planning, application, and financial aid processes.Design and create opportunities to ensure equitable access to postsecondary resources and opportunities for underrepresented student populations.
Team Leadership and DevelopmentLead and coach Directors of College and Career Readiness at high schools, as well as KMSA managers and counselors, ensuring they are supported in providing postsecondary guidance to students and families.Foster a collaborative team environment, establishing clear communication across the team, school leaders, and other stakeholders.Develop and implement ambitious team goals, monitor progress, and build competencies within the postsecondary advising team.Conduct weekly one-on-one check-ins with the Directors of College and Career Readiness and KMSA Counselors, and provide strategic guidance in monthly one-on-one meetings with School Leaders and the Regional Managing Director of KIPP Forward.
Data Management and Progress MonitoringRegularly monitor progress towards regional postsecondary access goals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.Maintain communication on student data progress with key stakeholders, including KIPP Foundation, college personnel, community-based organizations (CBOs), school and regional leadership, and families.Utilize student management platforms (Salesforce, Overgrad, Google Suite, etc.) to track student progress, maintain records, and report on key performance indicators.Provide weekly reports to KIPP Forward leadership regarding postsecondary outcomes and initiatives.
Project Management and Event CoordinationPlan and execute key postsecondary-related events, such as college visits, career fairs, and family engagement nights, ensuring logistical organization and budget management.Lead the delegation of tasks for ongoing projects, ensuring timelines and goals are met.Identify gaps in postsecondary knowledge and access, and develop innovative programs and solutions to address these challenges.Apply for grants and microgrants to support KIPP Forward initiatives, working in partnership with the KIPP Forward Leadership Team and the regional development team.
KIPP Forward Leadership Team ResponsibilitiesCollaborate closely with the Career Integration Manager and Director of Persistence to ensure alignment between all aspects of the KIPP Forward program.Contribute to the vision and strategic planning of the KIPP Forward program as a key member of the Regional KIPP Forward Leadership Team.Lead professional development sessions for KIPP staff during regional learning days, ensuring alignment with the overarching goals of KIPP Forward.Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Student Experiences & Community Engagement and the Regional Managing Director of KIPP Forward.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, Higher Education, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.A minimum of 5 years of experience in postsecondary advising, college counseling, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management capacity.In-depth knowledge of the postsecondary landscape, including access, financial aid, and support for diverse student populations.Strong experience in data management, including progress monitoring and reporting, using student management platforms and tools.Proven ability to lead teams, develop programs, and coach staff to achieve ambitious goals.Experience in project management and event coordination, including budget management and logistical planning.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, families, educators, and community partners.Skills and Competencies:
