Job Description

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.What you will be doing:The Alcohol and Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) is seeking a highly motived and adaptable employee to join our AMCO team as the Administrative Assistant 1. Under the direction of the Administrative Officer 1 and the Director, you will perform a variety of paraprofessional-level and administrative work tasks in multiple administrative functional areas in support of the AMCO Office. Principally focused in marijuana handler permit and event permitting for alcoholic beverage licensees and nonprofit organizations and full office support such as organizational and human resources procedures, assistance in budget tracking, including monthly budget projections, expenditure monitoring and reconciliation, personnel, payroll, travel, purchasing, and administrative and secretarial support for the Director.

You also will back up the office's other administrative assistant who will perform the same service for you.

In your role you will be an essential part of helping AMCO run the day-to-day operations and assisting the various sections within our office. Additionally, you will be the primary person who coordinates all marijuana handler permits, processes daily deposits, and payroll.?You will also support the event permitting for alcoholic beverage licensees and nonprofit organizations.The benefits of joining our team:You will work with a team of highly dedicated, hard working individuals all working towards the common goal of enforcing alcohol and marijuana regulations and statues to protect Alaskans safety and health. The working environment you can expect:The position is part of a three-person administrative team supporting the office located in downtown Anchorage in the Robert B. Atwood Building, which has a spectacular view of the inlet, close to the Delaney park strip, and within walking distance to various popular restaurants.

Six months of advanced clerical experience. This experience includes work such as Office Assistant 2, Accounting Clerk, and similar classes with the State of Alaska or the equivalent with another employer.

ORSix months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)

Special Note:Examples of advanced clerical experience include:

-Reviewing complex or questionable applications or documents and searching files and regulations to determine accuracy of information to clarify applicant status; using judgment in applying criteria, rules, regulations, and policies; providing information to organizational unit staff on administrative processes and procedures; tracking expenditures; and completing necessary administrative paperwork according to regulations.-Composing letters and memoranda; completing and reviewing forms for completeness and accuracy using readily available information from multiple sources and established guidelines and procedures. Examples of such tasks include time sheets, appointment paperwork, or required drug testing notifications for employees in positions requiring possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).Additional Required Information
