Production Underwriter for E&S/Wholesale Insurance Company

The production underwriter will be responsible for low to moderately complex risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth and profitability within scope of authority and per divisional objectives. Uses independent judgement and initiative to support business goals. Receives and analyzes submissions and determines terms to offer within granted authority. Prices business in accordance with program guidelines. Assess risk quality and compliance within program guidelines. Orders miscellaneous business reports needed in rating and underwriting processes, including financial agreements and underwriting surveys. Makes recommendations on risks over authority. Prepares effective internal and external communications on underwriting summaries and issues.
Responsibilities:
Review and approve new business, endorsements, renewals and remarkets that fall within underwriting authority and applicable market guidelines; refer risks that fall outside authority or guidelinesReview risk management information to identify and recommend risk mitigation solutions and requirementsConsult and assist agents with understanding appetite and apply that knowledge to risk selectionCreate and present new business and renewal proposalsDevelop and retain agency and market relationshipsCollaborate with team members to make sound business decisionsQualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalentMinimum 1-3 years of wholesale/E&S market with underwriting experienceExceptional oral and written communication skills and ability to work efficiently and collaboratively with other departmentsMotivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detailAbility to exercise sound and independent judgementReliable and strong team playerComfortable working under pressure to balance production timelines with individual client needs
