Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Aquatics Director, reporting to the Executive Director, is responsible for but not limited to: managing program operation, development and growth, participant satisfaction, member and staff retention and safety, staff supervision, onboarding, training, and coaching. As an Aquatics Director at the Y, you lead an environment that is welcoming to all.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong leadership and organizational skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Current certifications in Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, AED, and Water Safety Instructor.Experience in aquatic program development and management.Knowledge of pool operations and maintenance.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.Experience with swim team coaching or management.Bilingual or multilingual skills.Essential Functions
1. Program Management:
Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive aquatics program that meets the needs of the community.
Ensure adherence to all state, local, and YMCA health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with other departments to promote cross-program opportunities.
2. Staff Leadership:
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise qualified aquatics staff.
Conduct regular staff meetings to provide updates, address concerns, and foster a positive team environment.
Ensure compliance with all required certifications and training.
3. Facility Operations:
Oversee the daily operation and maintenance of pool facilities.
Monitor water quality and chemical levels to maintain optimal conditions.
Implement emergency procedures and respond effectively to incidents.
Adhere to federal, state and local requirements
Update and follow the Mansfield Branch - Aquatic Safety Manual
4. Financial Management:
Develop and manage the department's budget to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Monitor program revenue and expenses to optimize profitability.
5. Community Engagement:
Build strong relationships with community partners, schools, and other organizations.
Promote the YMCA's aquatics programs through marketing and outreach efforts.
