  • you have deep knowledge in power electronics design and simulation, as well as digital control
What You Will Do

As a Power Electronics Engineer at Spellman, you will be central to our mission of powering progress for a better future. You will design power supplies that can create and control high voltage electricity using cutting-edge technology, and in some cases, developing new technology to do so. Every day will bring a new challenge, but in general you can expect to:
  • collaborate with other experts and partner with customers to create power delivery systems that meet demanding specifications
  • investigate new techniques, and research new technology to improve existing designs so that they can meet future demands
  • accurately and thoroughly document the design for manufacturing, or later modifications
  • test your designs using state-of-the-art simulation methods
  • manage your work by aligning cost, timeframes, manufacturing requirements, and other resource constraints
What You Need

Basic qualifications: the standard qualities needed for success as a Spellman Power Electronics Engineer include:
  • Formal technical education, such as a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience designing power electronics
  • Thorough understanding of power conversion principles (rectification, inversion, regulation, etc.) and basic converter topologies (buck, boost, flyback, etc.)
  • Proficiency with digital circuit design tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad, or similar
  • Proficiency with circuit simulation software like LTSpice, Multisim, SPICE, Cadence Virtuoso, Ansys Maxwell, etc.
  • Familiarity with technical documents, such as PCB layouts, circuitry schematics, BOM, electrical and mechanical drawings, etc.
Distinguishing Characteristics: Candidates with the following abilities are competitive for more senior positions
  • Electronics design for High Voltage applications (100kV+)
  • X-Ray Generator experience
  • Designs incorporating encapsulation/insulation materials
  • Designing products meeting UL, ISO 9001, CE, or similar rigorous standards


Our good faith estimate of the salary range for this role is $85,000 - $170,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other factors. In addition to base pay, we offer a full benefits package.

This position requires on-site presence at Spellman High Voltage headquarters in Hauppauge, NY. Relocation assistance is available.
