POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The incumbent fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs sheet metal products and equipment. S/he may occasionally oversee and direct the work of a small group of laborers.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shears, forms, handles, bends, and welds thin sheet metal during the fabrication process.
- Operates shears, plasma machines, press brakes, welding machines, and other various hand tools.
- Loads and unloads trucks of material to be staged and installed throughout the jobsite.
- Hangs steel supports from ceiling joists and concrete slabs to hold ducts in place.
- Measures and marks dimensions and reference lines on metal sheets.
- Drills holes in metal for screws, bolts, and rivets. Installs metal ducts with supportive frameworks.
- Fabricates or alters parts at construction sites on an as-needed basis.
- Fastens seams and joints by welding, bolting, or riveting.
- Reviews blueprints and specifications to determine work sequence and effective, safe procedures.
- Completes all AHA's and daily huddles, and pre-plans work to ensure safety, productivity, and quality.
- Inspects equipment, structures, and materials to identify the cause of errors, safety hazards, or other issues, and solutions or escalates them appropriately.
- Facilitates knowledge transfer and teaches trade skills to less experienced tradespeople.
- Maintains appropriate Company confidentiality at all times.
- Protects the assets of the Company and ethically upholds the Code of Conduct & Ethics in all situations.

- This position operates primarily in the field. Jobsite work is likely to entail varying exposure to weather, potentially harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, noise, dangerous machinery, and/or other conditions typically associated with a live construction site.
- Depending on the work location, the incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, noise, poor ventilation/lighting, and other hazards or conditions typically associated with a construction job site.

TRAVEL:
- This position may require up to 15% travel.
- Graduation from high school, vocational school, or training equivalent.
- 5-8 years of mechanical contracting experience.
- Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, and oral instructions under limited supervision.
- Must be construction-document and drawing literate, with knowledge of all phases of construction.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the methods, practices, techniques, tools, and equipment employed in the joining, jointing, cutting, bending, threading of all types of HVAC piping.
- General knowledge of the hazards of the trade and necessary precautionary measures.
- Willingness and ability to work nights and overtime on an as-needed basis.
- Capacity to leverage leadership skills to facilitate learning, teamwork, and collaborative relationships.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have a driving record compliant with the Company's policies and MVR requirements, and consent to ongoing driving record monitoring by the Company.
- Rigging and Signaling Certification.
- Forklift Certification.
- Aerial and Scissor Lift Certification.
- Completed OSHA 30-Hour Training.
- Current First Aid/CPR Certification.
