Job Description:
As a Technical SEO Product Manager, you're responsible to oversee and enhance the technical SEO health of our website. This role is crucial for ensuring our site meets evolving SEO technical standards, maximizes crawlability, and enhances indexation across search engines. The Technical SEO Product Manager will work closely with product, development, and analytics teams to create and implement technical SEO strategies to drive SEO visibility & traffic.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) : Ensure Client's websites meet all technical SEO requirements, including optimizing HTML, JavaScript, and server-side rendering to improve search engine crawlability and page performance. Partner With Development Teams : Develop detailed user stories that align with SEO best practices, aiming to enhance Client's website's technical SEO, including improvements for structured data, mobile friendliness, and core web vitals. Act as a liaison between SEO, product, and development teams, ensuring that SEO requirements are understood, prioritized, and executed in development sprints. Crawlability & Indexation Management : Oversee the technical health of the site by ensuring key pages are crawlable and indexed effectively by Google, Bing, and other search engines. Search Console Management : Diagnose and resolve issues identified in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools, including crawl errors, page indexation issues, and other technical alerts. Error Management : Identify, prioritize, and resolve issues like 404 errors, 500 errors, and broken internal links that impact SEO performance. Redirect Implementation:
Manage and implement 301 redirects to ensure link equity and minimize broken link issues, particularly during site migrations or content updates. Schema Markup : Ensure proper schema markup is implemented and maintained to enhance visibility and search appearance, focusing on local SEO, reviews, events, and more. Technical Audits : Conduct regular SEO audits, employing tools such as JetOctopus, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and other platforms to identify opportunities and mitigate risks for technical SEO. SEO Performance Tracking : Monitor and report on the impact of technical SEO initiatives, utilizing analytics and reporting tools to assess improvements in site visibility, traffic, and engagement. Competitor Analysis : Conduct technical SEO competitor analysis to identify gaps, opportunities, and best practices that Client can leverage.
Experience
& Skills:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in technical SEO, preferably within eCommerce, travel, or hospitality industries. Proven experience managing technical SEO for a large, complex website or portfolio. Familiarity with agile development processes, experience in working within product management or in a cross-functional team setting is a plus. Expertise in technical SEO best practices, including crawlability, indexation, structured data, and Core Web Vitals. Proficiency in tools such as Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Ahrefs, and web analytics Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS, with the ability to work closely with developers to implement SEO recommendations. Knowledge of server-side optimization, site speed performance, and mobile-first design. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS). Ability to analyze large datasets and provide actionable insights, with proficiency in Excel. Bonus points for Python ability. Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating technical SEO requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Analytical mindset with a results-driven approach to SEO. Team player with the ability to lead initiatives and collaborate across various departments.
The hourly range for roles of this nature are $50.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
