Wednesday 5:40pm-6:00amHourly Wage: $24.31/hr, B+D Shifts come with 11% shift differential. This person is a member of a crew that operates two production lines. You will work with your shift to safely produce high quality product in a fast pace continuous operation environment. The expectation for a winder operator is to deliver quality packaging and products for our customers. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plant and Environmental Safety Lives the Owens Corning Safety Standard and meets all safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment. Take personal ownership to work safely and hold other team members to the same high standards of safety "Safer together". Notify supervisor immediately of any accident, near miss or on- the -job injury when it occurs no matter how insignificant it may seem. Participates in the safety, quality, autonomous maintenance (AM), TPM and housekeeping programs as established within the plant; including but not limited to Focused Improvement Events, Safety Committee, Training, etc. Performs job tasks to reduce environmental impact and adheres to the environmental regulations and recycling procedures for waste disposal. Complies with all plant rules and safety regulations. Performs cleanup duties at workstations and/or equipment/machinery. Communicates safety concerns and/or equipment problems/abnormalities to appropriate personnel, maintaining strong communication with the appropriate line section operators to ensure immediate action is taken for product out of spec. Inspect vehicles and other PIV equipment before use and throughout shift, keeping all equipment clean and operational.TPM Participates in plant TPM initiatives - completing activities associated with TPM tasks (adheres to CILT standard, 5S). Must be an active member of an AM and or Pillar team. Continues to use TPM methodology to gain a better understanding of the equipment. Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities and develops expertise in those areas. Utilizes Focus Improvement (FI) tools to problem solve. Works to achieve zero injuries, zero defects and zero losses. During PM days, uses time effectively to bring equipment to optimal condition for zero losses. Maintain DMS and AM Team Area Activity Boards.Quality Perform winder, EDL, and conveyor quality checks and documentation at specified intervals. Maintain control panel - adjust speed, delays, and other timers if needed. Interface with plant employees to provide quality control (QC) information. Monitor and report unusual or suspect material issues not within specifications. Communicate with all coater end operators concerning shift production Communicate with all back-end operators concerning quality problems Understand and react to upset conditions. Evaluate all finished product for proper weight and/or thickness.Productivity Have a basic understanding of product process. Operate Winders and packaging machines on both lines. Operate banding equipment. Print and apply pallet labels Load and stack reworked material. Manage and accurately report the amount of scrap and seconds for tracking. Relieve crew members from duties for breaks Manage trash. Listen for alarms and responds appropriately to the various alarm signals. Assist in repair of web breaks. Assist in all threading, product change procedures. Perform PM to AM task transfers on down days.Other Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate. Support the training and development of colleagues. Demonstrates flexibility to changing priorities as business needs dictate. Identifies and participates proactively in learning opportunities and develops expertise in those areas. Follows standard operating procedures and processes. Can and is willing to make decisions. Knows the chain of command to get support. Regular attendance on site and the ability to rotate varying shifts. All other duties as assigned or needed.JOB REQUIREMENTS SKILLS AND ABILITIES The employee should hold the following skills and abilities: Demonstrated desire to impact safety Must be able to work independently or in a team atmosphere with minimal direct supervision Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot High attention to detail Demonstrated ability to multi-task Basic mathematics skills Able to effectively communicate (read, write, speak, understand) EnglishCOMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPENTENCIES The employee must be able to: Work with a computer to perform basic data entry Demonstrate basic computer skills such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Pallet labeling system (MII), Ignition and SAP.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. Manufacturing or process related experience preferred.ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Must: Be at least 18 years old. Remain drug free. Have work schedule flexibility (possible rotating shifts; mandatory overtime). Effectively and efficiently perform up to 12-hour shifts (with breaks) in an industrial manufacturing environment: While wearing applicable / mandatory PPE. With exposure to: Extreme temperature variation. Sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable (hearing protection is provided). Prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and/or using full upper / lower body movement for process. Ink / dust / dirt / fumes. With the ability to: Distinguish colors and shading. Handle, control, feed, or feel objects, tools, or product. Climb / descend stairs / ladder, and / or work from heights as needed. Become certified to operate a forklift (if/as needed). Repetitively and freely: Perform movements of body, hand, arm, leg. Bend, twist, squat, walk, sit, stand; to include waist, back and knee motion.
