GENERAL PURPOSE: This position develops and implements digital marketing strategies to help the Hajim School recruit top prospective students and award-winning faculty, engage with alumni, and enhance its reputation as one of the nation’s top engineering schools. The incumbent creates, edits, updates, connects, and shares digital video, images, text, and graphics for the Hajim School’s websites, social media channels, and marketing campaigns. This position identifies new communities and technologies for marketing efforts, proposes the implementation of new tools and strategies, and defines, tracks, analyzes, and reports on metrics and analytics to understand reach. The Hajim School comprises of 15 academic programs, including Audio and Music Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, and the Institute of Optics. The incumbent must have in-depth knowledge of current and emerging digital technology and provides the Hajim School and its departments guidance on how to best allocate resources. The position is crucial to an integrated effort led by the Office of University Marketing and Communications and works with colleagues in the department to advance the University’s reputation, strategic goals, and its mission. RESPONSIBILITIES: Digital Content Creation Creates persuasive web content for the Hajim School, departments, institutes, and center websites to help recruit prospective students and faculty, engages with alumni, and enhances their reputation with peers. Outlines paid digital marketing plans, develops an editorial calendar for paid opportunities, prioritizes efforts based on input from Hajim School and departments, and executes campaigns. Works with media team in University Marketing and Communications to coordinate photography and video shoots and graphic design work as needed. Contributes content to the Hajim School dean’s Hajim Highlights newsletter. Social Media Creates, edits, updates, and shares compelling video, photo, text, and graphic content for the Hajim School’s social media channels. Develops a shared content calendar and collaborates with managers of other University social media accounts. Identifies and evaluates the most effective channels for sharing content and engaging with audiences. Manages paid social promotion efforts. Provides guidance and best practices to Hajim School faculty, staff, and students to help them serve as effective brand ambassadors on social media. Strategy Development and Implementation Works with the Hajim Senior Leadership Team and Hajim department chairs to ensure alignment of digital marketing efforts with organizational objectives. Develops and executes marketing plans with a clear focus on goals, audiences, and measurements for success. Identifies key messages and narratives to effectively drive prospective students and faculty, alumni, and peers to take action. Creates strategies with associated key performance indicators, aligned with the Hajim School’s goals and objectives. Coordinates with other digital marketing content professionals across the Hajim School and University to share content, including those who manage campaigns, social media channels, websites, e-newsletters, and print publications. Stays apprised of issues, trends, and innovations in higher education and signature institutional programs through key publications, influential thought leaders, social media, and other engagement. Stays apprised of issues, trends, innovations, current events related to engineering, science, and higher education Performance Measurement and Reporting Applies analytical skills to improve content performance and delivery by evaluating metrics such as social media engagement, search engine optimization metrics, website traffic, and more. Applies analytical skills to improve content performance and delivery. Recommends and executes the improvement of current channels and the development of new channels to achieve marketing objectives. Brand management Collaborates with University Marketing and Communications to establish a brand identity that aligns with overall University brand guidelines. Provides support and guidance to the departments to ensure their branding aligns with and complements that of the Hajim School. Develops narratives and messaging to showcase what makes the Hajim School distinct through feedback from faculty, staff, students, alumni, and parents. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, advertising or related fields required. Master’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related fields preferred. 3 years of experience in multimedia, public relations, communications, broadcast, digital publications, corporate communications, or agency work required. 3 years’ relevant experience in marketing, social media, content creation, branding, or related field preferred. Experience working in a University academic setting or in higher education preferred. Understanding of the physical sciences, scientific research, engineering and applied science preferred. Graphic design, photography, and/or illustration skills preferred. Exceptional writing and communication skills preferred. Must possess an interest in science and passion for higher education. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
