Job Type Full-time Description SCOUT DESIGN STUDIO is hiring a master level Painter. The Master Painter position is an advanced level position, with minimum 8 year's experience required. As a Master Painter will use paint application techniques and equipment to professionally finish furniture pieces. The Master Painter is the lead of the paint department, responsible for training new painters and managing the paint prep and sanding team. Located in the Dallas Design District, our 15,000 square foot showroom houses a well-edited collection of new and vintage furniture, artwork, lighting and home accessories from around the globe. We offer in-house refinishing services for vintage furniture and ship across the United States. Love kicking butt, working hard, and having fun all at the same time? Come on over Requirements Essential Functions: • Measures furniture to be painted; determines quantity and type of paint to use for the project. • Identifies and orders appropriate paint colors and finishes, mixing if needed. • Prepares surfaces to be painted, which may include removing prior finishes through chemicals, grit blast, or other methods. • Masks, removes, covers, or otherwise protects furniture, hardware, trim, and other nonpainted surfaces. • Understands how to mix paints, understands solvents, and paint sprayer set up. • Paint, stain, and clear coat application. • Applies custom finishes. • Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, sprayers, airbrushes, stencils, and other tools. • May apply specialty finishes and glazes. • Complies with chemical and waste storage and disposal regulations and best practices. • Maintains a clean work area and organization of paint and supplies. • Changes out paint booth filters. • Organizes and oversees the schedules and performance of Painters and provides training and feedback. • Assists the Director of Production with performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. • Performs other duties as assigned. Education, Experience, & Certifications: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • 8 years of paint and paint preparation experience required. • Completion of formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience. • Advanced experience in paint application techniques. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to follow instructions and provide consistent work. • Thorough understanding of the correct and safe operation of all related tools and equipment. • Must be able to squat, lift, stretch, and bend in order to reach all areas of the facility. • Prolonged periods of standing and painting. • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. • Must be able to distinguish among colors.
