About the role The Manager of Research, Development and Applications (RD&A) leads, develops, and supports a team of scientists driving new product development and application data generation. Reporting to the RD&A Director, this role is responsible for managing the Cell Nutrition RD&A team, producing project deliverables in a timely fashion, and for maintaining effective communication channels between RD&A, Business Development Marketing, Operations, and other stake holders. Able to integrate voice of customers to propose new product concepts that meet unmet market needs, while internally assisting with cost savings initiatives and improvement of existing products. She/he prioritizes activities in a fluid environment, ensuring that appropriate resources are allocated to the most important projects. What will you do? Direct the technical development & application data activities for our cell culture and fermentation product portfolio. Work cross functionally to drive product development from concept to commercialization, develop compelling application data, support cost savings initiatives and product improvement projects. Demonstrate subject matter and market expertise on pharmaceutical bioprocess technologies, specifically cell culture and microbial fermentation. Provide technical, regulatory, application and RD&A expertise to stakeholders, while broadly contributing to the growth of Kerry’s Cell Nutrition business. Prepare technical reports, publications, and invention disclosures for patent applications. Stay aware of new and competitive technologies, and applies this intelligence to research and product development projects Build and develop high performance teams. Hires, mentors, and develops team members within the organization. Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. What will you need to be successful? MS or PhD in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field required. PhD with 5 years of relevant experience in bioprocessing and/or fermentation with at least 3 years of managerial experience with PhD. MS with 10 years with 8 years of bioprocessing expertise and at least 5 years managerial experience. Strong technical background in pharmaceutical bioprocess technology (cell culture, microbial fermentation, bioreactor operation and process scale-up) is preferred. Knowledge of downstream processing and purification techniques is desirable. Proficiency in data analysis software and laboratory automation tools. Demonstrated project management ability, creativity, excellent problem-solving skills, and strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills Effectively provides to, and seeks feedback from, other team members as required. Experience working in a SAP environment is desirable. Travel: up to 15% domestic and global may be required. Compensation Data The typical hiring range for this role is $90,000 to $131,000 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
