Role Description: This is a part-time on-site role for an Academic Tutor at DUYA in Los Angeles, CA. The Academic Tutor will be responsible for hosting small-group academic interventions in various subjects including ELA, Math, and/or phonics for grades K-8. Compensation: Non- Exempt $24.00/hour 15 -20 hours per week Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Sick time Qualifications: 1 years of tutoring or teaching experience, in a classroom or after-school setting Background in English and Math Strong communication skills and ability to connect with students Proficient in Microsoft software Patient, empathetic, and passionate about youth development Enrolled in or graduated from college (AA degree or higher) Valid CA driver’s license and automobile insurance Ability to drive to and from school sites Duties: Provides academic support by assisting students with homework, projects, and test preparation to improve their understanding of specific subjects. Developing personalized learning plans, explaining complex concepts, teaching study and test-taking skills, and tracking student progress. Communicate with parents and, when necessary, collaborate with teachers to align with classroom instruction. Create a positive and focused learning environment to build students’ confidence and independence.
