The successful candidate will be responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and managing a portfolio of donors who are dedicated to the mission of providing all children with access to a quality education. This role involves developing and executing a long-term vision and strategy to meet development goals, both for public and private funding. The Senior Managing Director will work closely with Executive Directors, regional advisory board members, and other front-line fundraisers to maximize giving, with a focus on new donor strategy and acquisition. The position requires a seasoned professional with a minimum of 10 years' experience in complex development and fundraising, a proven track record of meeting ambitious goals, and expertise in all aspects of fundraising and development strategy. Applicants must be adept at building multi-year cultivation and stewardship plans, autonomously managing a complex donor portfolio, and have the ability to mentor or manage other development staff. The role demands an individual with exceptional relationship building skills, the ability to influence and tailor approaches to diverse donors, and a comprehensive understanding of philanthropic trends. The Senior Managing Director will be a key figure in the Field Fundraising team, with a significant focus on local donor engagement. The position is pivotal in the organization's efforts to secure the necessary resources to support its educational initiatives and requires a candidate who is willing to work occasional weekends, evenings, and travel to engage with local donors.
