Job Title: Lead RF/Wireless Systems Engineer Job Code: 17861 Job Location: Melbourne, FL Job Description: L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead RF/Wireless Systems Engineer with a background in large-scale high availability networks who will support our FAA Telecommunications Infrastructure (FTI) Program and IRADS. The engineer will work with a cross-function team to analyze customer requirements, create an architecture and work closely with software deployment, test and operations teams. As a Leader in RF/Wireless Systems Engineering, you will be working to support the advanced systems and services that significantly increase the safety, security and capacity of global air traffic management systems to meet the growing demand of air transportation operations as well as DoD Network Systems. Essential Functions: Manage projects through the project lifecycle, including requirements analysis, system design, test plans, proposals, and schedules. Troubleshoot issues and work collaboratively with other groups within FTI and FAA. Work with LTE 4G and 5G telecommunication networks. Perform coverage analysis to support remote deployments. Apply best practices for testing remote LTE locations for optimal signal levels and performance. Implement best practices when installing LTE antennas and selecting antenna types. Troubleshoot issues related to dropped connections, lost packets, and low throughput. Monitor ongoing performance at remote LTE locations. Utilize RF modeling tools effectively. Develop and deliver presentations to communicate design activity plans; conduct and participate in technical Interchange Meetings, design reviews, and working groups. Communication within and outside of the functional area on all technical concepts with engineers, customers/users, and team members. Customer interaction experience, presenting in design reviews SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR’s. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust level clearance Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required Up to 10% travel may be required Other duties as required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Radio Frequency, Wireless Systems Engineering, or related field, and minimum 9 years related experience; or a Master’s degree in Engineering, or related field, and minimum 7 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related RF/Wireless Systems engineering experience Minimum of 6 years direct experience developing, maintaining large scale Networks and/or Telecommunications infrastructures in any of the industry leading Cellular Service Providers (CSP’s). Direct experience with RF Cellular technologies LTE and/or 5G Minimum of 6 years’ experience across various phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including but not limited to requirement analysis, design, development and testing, implementation, documentation, and evaluation. Preferred Additional Skills: General knowledge of Software Defined (SD) Radio technology General knowledge of Software Defined Wide Area Networking (SD-WAN) concepts Expert communication/interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently. INCOSE® ‎ Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification Experience using Microsoft Office products Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
