What You Will Do The Engineering Team at Johnson Controls is responsible for a vast array of products with a multitude of configurations. This Electrical Engineer Technician position is for a self-motivated individual that will contribute to new product development as well as existing product sustaining efforts. Prototyping, building, debugging, qualification testing and validating of production units are included. Validation test suite includes functional, environmental, EMC & safety tests. Person will work as part of a larger engineering development and NPI manufacturing team. Work will include: Support for prototype circuit board development and board builds Circuit board troubleshooting and repair, including SMT Setting up and conducting tests in environmental test chambers Executing hardware verification and qualification test plans Assist with performing regulatory compliance testing Collecting and analyzing data from testing Setup and conduct system performance testing with Robot Create and update BOM database Maintain an orderly and clean work environment Perform related duties as assigned. How You Will Do It The selected candidate will be capable of working with minimal direction in a collaborative environment with other engineering personnel. This role requires interaction with personnel in various roles at Johnson Controls, thus requiring good written and verbal communication skills. This position also requires the ability to multitask, and to work effectively in response to changing priorities. What We Look For Required Strong Proficiency in soldering and rework skills to BGA level. Associate’s degree as an Electrical or Electronics Technician, or closely related discipline A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as an engineering electronics technician Strong troubleshooting and repairing circuit boards Experience executing hardware verification and qualification testing Experience setting up and conducting tests in environmental test chambers Experience instrumenting test equipment to run in an automated fashion Ability to work both collaboratively with teammates, and independently with minimal direction Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize working on multiple concurrent projects. Ability to work independently and eager to help teammates in high workflow situations Ability to lift a minimum of 35LBS. Preferred Experience with Altium, Windchill, and Microsoft Office Suite Experience in building electrical and mechanical setups, including test fixtures, prototype enclosures, mock-ups for prototype product demos, etc. Experience with Motoman HP 165 Robot a plus.
