With minimal supervision, performs the most complex tasks related to the production processes, according to department guidelines.Perform most complex tasks related to the production processes according to department guidelines, acts as a subject matter expert on all functions related to the Optical Technician jobPerform and/or oversee Inspection functions related to the production process according to department guidelines; assists with the analysis of surface/finishing reworks and breakagePerform and/or oversee inspection functions related to the production manual process (ANSI)Research and resolve issues related to internal performance of the departmentAssist, cooperate, and communicate with appropriate departments to resolve production & workflow issuesMay assist with ordering lab supplies, working with vendors for all consumables; troubleshoots issues/problems with suppliersVerify all lens specifications are met according to all Lab and Z80 standards, including, but not limited to, optical measures, lens materials, fitting measurements, thickness, cosmetic quality, and any extra features such as tinting, anti-reflective coating, etc.Preproduction /Dr. Service call functions including calling customers/vendors to explain issues/problems with lens ordersBlocking calibration functions including operating equipment to perform blocking, blocking aid, and blocking set-upAnalyze lens rejects to determine root cause; log determination; log determination and resultsEvaluates and identifies trends on the rejects & breakages involving Rx sent to subcontractor vendorShipping functions including efficiently working with time sensitive shipmentsMaintain lens, frame, and processing parameters with Lab Management Systems (DVI)Changes chemicals on hand coating unitsWork with business partners, root cause information and process improvement methodology to prevent future errorsMaintain unit standards, processes, and procedures to ensure efficient, accurate and measurable resultsMaintain awareness of and meet all unit criteria, i.e., production standards, procedures, etc.Assist in training other department employeesKeep up to date on all safety and evacuation procedures; maintain company safety standardsJob SpecificationsTypically has the following skills or abilities:Two to four years of experience in a production/manufacturing, fast-paced environmentTwo to four years of experience working in an optical laboratory or related environmentDemonstrated knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the functions of all Optical Technician jobsEffective written and verbal communication skillsWorking knowledge of PCs and databasesFamiliarity with word processing and spreadsheet applicationsExperience working in a fast-paced environmentAbility to meet department standards for productivity and qualityAbility to read and write at a level necessary to accomplish the above tasksGood manual dexterity and hand/eye coordinationAbility to recognize and distinguish colorsAbility to perform physical activities requiring bending, kneeling and pulling/pushingAbility to understand and follow proceduresAbility to lift up to 30 poundsAbility to walk or stand up to 100% of the timeLI-OPTICSCompensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
