PURPOSE We are seeking a seasoned and innovative Senior Director, Corporate Communications to lead Builders FirstSource's external and internal communications strategies and transform how we communicate. This role is pivotal in enhancing our brand presence, managing media relations, and ensuring clear and consistent messaging across all platforms. The Senior Director, Corporate Communications will work closely with senior leadership, including the CEO, to craft narratives that resonate with our target audiences and advance our vision of making the dream of home ownership more achievable for everyone. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with executive team to create a holistic communication playbook that addresses the full annual cycle of planned events as well as protocol for unplanned events (natural disasters, etc.). Partner with executive team on acquisition press releases and related communications, earnings call scripts, investor presentations, board of directors' presentations and large-scale events. Partner with CPO and HR team to ensure EVP branding is appropriately woven throughout all internal communications. Develop, refine, and continuously iterate on our overarching communications plan in support of our strategic objectives, including strategy, message, and positioning. Shape external communications by developing compelling narratives, including executive messaging, PR strategies, and content that elevates the BFS brand in the industry. Craft executive presentations for marquee events and oversee pre-production, live-production and post-production efforts to ensure flawless execution. Foster cross-functional partnerships with the extended team across C-Suite, Marketing, Sales, HR, Legal, Operations, Finance and other key partners within BFS to drive alignment and engagement through internal communications, ensuring all team members-from field teams to corporate offices-are informed, engaged and feel connected to our vision and understand their role in our success. Support change management initiatives by crafting clear and effective internal communication plans. CEO Personal Brand Development - Develop and manage the CEO's personal brand, ensuring alignment with company values and enhancing visibility as an industry thought leader. Innovative Communication Channels - Evaluate and implement innovative communication tools and platforms to enhance message delivery and engagement, ensuring BFS stays at the forefront of communication trends. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability- Collaborate with teams to promote corporate social responsibility and sustainability efforts, ensuring these initiatives are well-communicated to external and internal audiences Develop and implement crisis communication plans and strategies to protect the company's reputation and effectively manage any public relations challenges. Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and industry influencers. Serve as the primary spokesperson for the company, managing all media inquiries and ensuring accurate and positive media coverage. Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and consumer insights to identify public relations opportunities and potential risks. Manage external vendors including public relations agency of record. Help develop executive team profiles and position team members as thought leaders. Create a culture of open communication, trust, and collaboration, helping to align the organization around our shared values and mission. Monitor and report on the effectiveness of our communication strategies and make recommendations for improvements. Lead a team of communications professionals. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervises assigned employees including staff selection and training; planning, assigning and directing work; conducting performance reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Provides leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and career development. Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 10 years of experience in Executive Communications, PR, and Employee Communications, with a particular focus on large-scale organizations and distributed workforces required. Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field. Strong relationship builder who can foster trusted partnerships with senior executives and diverse teams. Demonstrated success in developing compelling narratives and building and delivering impactful communications programs. Expertise in integrated communications strategies, leveraging multiple channels (digital, mobile, video, print) to create maximum impact. A problem solver who embraces change and challenge, turning them into opportunities for engagement and innovation. A champion of data-driven communications, with a passion for using metrics and research to measure the effectiveness of communication programs. Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring teams. A keen ability to simplify complex topics and adjust tone / style as needed.
