Concrete Finisher Job Locations US-GA-Conyers Job ID 2024-1434 of Openings 1 Category Concrete Finishers Overview GWP has over 30 years of experience providing quality concrete and asphalt paving services to the greater Atlanta area. Our mission, as always, is to work hard to provide our customers with all the solutions to their paving needs. Concrete finishers pour, form, spread and float finished surfaces along with edging and cut the joints of poured concrete. These specialized workers finish top surfaces of concrete using tools such as brooms, smooth trowels and water to create the desired texture. Concrete finishers place forms to control where concrete is being poured and help spread the concrete as it's being poured to ensure the finished result will be level. Concrete finishers inspected finished concrete, patch holes, and fix imperfections after concrete has finished setting. They also make repairs to old concrete by filling cracks, replacing damaged areas, and refinishing surfaces. Responsibilities Setting forms that hold the concrete in place. Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues. Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver. Pouring, smoothing, and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float, and screed. This includes handheld tools and power tool versions. Monitoring the effects of the weather on the curing process. Applying sealing and hardening components. Safely operating power vibrator to ensure the concrete is compacted. Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools. Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine. Qualifications Concrete Finishers should have experience in working on a construction team to complete projects. Communication Skills - Construction sites are collaborative environments that require good verbal communication skills Physical Strength - Concrete finishers need physical strength to work in extreme weather conditions, lift heavy bags of concrete, stand for long periods of time, and work with their hands using multiple types of tools Detail-Oriented - Concrete finishers are highly detail-oriented in that they precisely match concrete colors, note imperfections in concrete, and manage their tools Design Comprehension - Concrete finishers know how to read and interpret many kinds of construction plans and drawings Mechanical Aptitude - Because they work with many different tools and machinery, concrete finishers have good hand-eye dexterity and a high degree of mechanical aptitude Tools of the trade - Concrete Finishers need to have experience to prepare surfaces using jacks, plate tampers, hand floats, edgers, joiners and trowels. Must be able to execute a broom finish. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
