Job Description & Requirements Specialty: ED - Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours Employment Type: Travel The Emergency Department Registered Nurse initiates a plan of care based on identified medical and nursing diagnosis which is consistent with knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, human behavior, and outlined standards of care. He/ she directs and coordinates with other departments and ancillary personnel to provide a safe environment and a high standard of quality care. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process of planning, directing, and evaluating the nursing care. The Emergency Department Registered Nurse relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care, and monitors satisfactory relations with other departments and nursing areas to promote a safe environment and a high standard of quality care. What You'll Do: Assess and monitor physical status of the patient. Aware of patient treatment needs in order to correlate physicians orders to diagnosis. Knowledgeable of Laboratory work-up and values related to diagnosis. Effectively admits, transfers and discharges patients. Documents patient care on clinical records and on initial assessment, as pertinent changes occur, and at least every 2 hours in a clear, accurate and concise manner. Anticipates potential problems and adapts to unit changes. Consistently and interdependently follow established safety and infection control procedures. Intervene in unsafe situations. What You'll Need: State of California Registered Nurse license. American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC certifications required. NRP certification preferred. Minimum of four years Emergency Room Nurse experience required. Job Information: Expected schedule: night shift, 6 working days in a row, 8 days off. Possibly varied day and night shifts as needed.
