Position Title: Senior Manager, Design and Documentation Location: Washington, D.C. Position Summary: Special Olympics North America is seeking a highly creative and collaborative individual to lead in-house graphic design projects and event documentation. This involves extensive graphic design and video and photo editing and requires a high level of technical skill and artistic vision. This position will provide the successful candidate opportunities to collaborate across departments and support a variety of activations and initiatives. Primary Responsibilities: Provide extensive in-house graphic design support, collaborating with team members to create high-quality and effective pieces including resources, logos, brand kits, signage, publications, etc. This includes copy editing and overseeing branding. Produce high-quality video content for a variety of projects and needs, including, but not limited to event coverage, promotional purposes, partner deliverables, etc. Provide on-the-ground video and photo coverage during selected SONA events (i.e. SONA Championships, World Games, USA Games, Youth events, etc.) Manage content, serving as internal expert on current assets that can be repurposed. Work in collaboration with Resource Manager to create project timelines and ensure Programs have access to all deliverables. Ensure that all materials being produced are representative of SONA’s efforts in diversity, equity, and inclusion. If current materials are not meeting this standard, support the development of such assets. Responsible for ongoing reporting to the Department of Education and internally. Other Responsibilities: Undertake tasks that may be requested from time to time by SONA Marketing & Communications Director and SONA UCS Communications Director, as may be consistent with the nature and scope of the position. Attend regular team meetings. Undertake training and development, as agreed with supervisor. Be a positive, professional and active member of the SONA team, taking personal responsibility for contributing to and maintaining good morale and work relations, and actively promote a positive image in all Special Olympics meetings. Ensure compliance with the Special Olympics policies and guiding principles. Ensure that projects are completed within agreed deadlines and budgets and in accordance with federal grant guidelines. Provide feedback and evaluate progress and achievements towards division goals of continuous improvement; ensure targets, outputs and outcomes are met. Ability to travel required. Required Qualifications: A bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience plus Five to Seven years of relevant work experience. Experience and/or coursework in the area of applied arts, graphic design, video production, photojournalism or related discipline is a plus. Extensive experience in planning, storyboarding, and filming using professional-grade cameras, bringing a high level of creativity to each stage of the process. Video and photo editing experience. Expert knowledge of all Adobe Creative Suite platforms (i.e. InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.) Graphic design experience including, but not limited to, event logos and brand kits, digital and physical signage, social content, and publications. Collaborative, team-oriented approach to content creation. Strong project management experience, including managing and meeting timelines. Desired Qualifications: Previous Special Olympics experience is a plus. Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities. Experience using platforms such as SharePoint and Smartsheet are preferred but not required.
