In addition, our staff are eligible for the Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program What the Special Education Teacher does: In consultation with Assistant Teacher, Behavior Staff, Vocational and Support Staff, Related Service Staff, parents/guardians and other professionals as appropriate, the Special Education Teacher develops and implements individualized education and behavioral programs for each assigned student. Additional responsibilities include: Develops Individualized Education Plans for students Selects appropriate instructional materials and strategies and implements educational goals and objectives covering all required subject areas. Prepares quarterly report cards and mid-quarter reports, and IEP progress report narratives. Maintains good communication with students’ parents/guardians, relevant PHILLIPs staff, and appropriate professionals outside of PHILLIPs. Maintains classroom budget, and reports expenditures to supervisor. Evaluates students’ current levels of academic and behavioral functioning, and periodically re-evaluates to make program adjustments. Selects appropriate instructional materials and strategies based on the curriculum to implement the goals and objectives on the IEP in all required subject areas. Organizes classroom furniture and equipment to create a pleasant and effective learning environment. Actively supervises students throughout the day to ensure safety, including, but not limited to bus and playground duty. Implements individual and group behavior management programs. What the Special Education Teacher brings to the team: Bachelor's Degree, required Minimum qualification for a Provisional Certificate in special education at the appropriate level, or content area Experience working in special education or a related field, highly preferred PHILLIPS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
