Position Overview The Associate in Project Development will manage and support renewable energy project initiatives across the U.S. Central region. Working as part of a regional development team, the role focuses on the planning, execution, and completion of wind, solar, and energy storage projects. The position involves collaboration with teams in Business Development, Origination, Engineering, Finance, and Construction, guiding projects from inception through to full operational status. Key Qualifications Candidates should have a background in renewable energy project development with experience in areas such as land acquisition, regulatory compliance, environmental permitting, and interconnection. Previous work with engineering, procurement, and construction processes, as well as project financing, is essential. Experience in major U.S. transmission and energy markets is also preferred. This hybrid role allows for work from various U.S. office locations. Applications are encouraged even for those who meet only some of the qualifications. Key Responsibilities Support or manage development for large-scale renewable projects, covering aspects like permitting, interconnection, contracting, financing, and transition to construction. Develop and propose innovative strategies to manage risks, streamline timelines, and maximize project value. Conduct or assist in the due diligence process for acquisitions of development-stage projects, evaluating multiple opportunities. Manage relationships with regional partners and stakeholders (e.g., consultants, land agents). Work closely with the Land Acquisition team and third parties to establish site control. Collaborate with engineering teams and consultants to assess project layout options, timelines, interconnection, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate and support interconnection applications, load-flow studies, and other aspects necessary for securing project transmission. Help negotiate contracts such as power purchase agreements and supply contracts. Contribute to securing financial commitments for projects prior to construction. Coordinate with the Origination team on power purchase agreement (PPA) marketing efforts. Create and manage project budgets and timelines, aligning with internal review stages and investment decisions. Prepare presentations and reports for management on project opportunities. Stay current on market trends and industry shifts to adjust development strategies as needed. Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (engineering, business, finance, environmental science). Familiarity with permitting pathways for energy projects and the ability to travel as required. Minimum of two years in renewable energy development, with experience across all project phases for utility-scale solar or wind projects. Knowledge of land development elements: negotiations, title resolution, surveys, and GIS. Strong organizational and critical thinking skills for managing multiple projects and timelines. Preferred Background Advanced studies in business, finance, law, environmental science, or policy. Understanding of governmental and regulatory factors influencing renewable development in the Eastern U.S. Battery storage experience is advantageous. Familiarity with major U.S. transmission markets. Additional Details Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Compensation Annual salary range: $110,000 - $145,000 USD, with eligibility for a performance-based annual bonus. Final salary will vary based on location, experience, and qualifications.
