We’re even more interested in your positive attitude and flexible mindset THE OPPORTUNITY AT HAND We’re looking for passionate and empathetic people to join our team as Surgical Coordinators. Our Surgical Coordinators are responsible for guiding the patient through the surgical process. This includes scheduling surgeries, patient education, gathering and documenting patient information and history and conducting routine and ancillary patient testing. You’ll play a vital role in the patients experience with OCLI and in helping our doctors to diagnose and treat eye disorders. OUR EXPECTATIONS OF YOU Schedules surgeries to be performed in facility; follows procedure for surgery schedule changes (i.e., cancellation, reschedule); considers priorities/emergencies and patient special needs when scheduling surgical procedures. Coordinates patient medical history/clearance with Nurse Practitioner and/or PCP Maintains and tracks all necessary patient information to include demographics, H & Ps, and insurance information. Prepares surgery schedule for review by the Nurse Practitioner and/or Clinical Nurse Director. Adheres to surgery scheduling department guidelines. Educates and advises the patient on surgical procedures; preoperative preparation (i.e., drops); addresses patient needs and concerns. Payment collection. Responsible for patient IOL measurements and calculations based on physician lens requirements. Performs EMR documentation accurately; identifies proper surgery site, procedure, and special needs of Surgeon. Serves as a work-up technician and performs accurate ophthalmic procedures and testing as clinical schedule requires. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED You’re an excellent communicator – both verbally and written. You’re outgoing, you love the idea of interacting with patients every day. You’re comfortable providing white glove service and responding quickly to our patient's needs. You’re a dependable problem solver – you’re the one people call to keep cool in stressful situations. You have a positive, can-do attitude and work well in collaborative environments. You’re flexible – you roll with the punches and easily accept change. You’re knowledgeable in ocular pharmacology such as anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics and cycloplegics, epinephrine, miotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories is a PLUS, but not a requirement. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit.
