Control Systems Engineer

LOCATION: This is an on-site position based in Greensboro, NC. The position is not hybrid or work from home. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Work with MG Newell's customers in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries to understand their process needs and develop creative control system designs that meet or exceed all requirements. Foster customer relationships by providing on-site installation and start-up support and on-going technical support. JOB DUTIES: Be familiar with PLCs, operator interface programs, and variable frequency drives. Must have excellent working knowledge of how these devices function and communicate to control manufacturing processes. Must be able to program and configure these devices. Possess thorough understanding of field sensors (flow, temperature, pressure, and level devices). Knowledge must include ability to provide field service and support. Prepare quotes for customers. Create detailed bill of materials when required for quoting or construction. Have a working knowledge of sanitary and industrial processes (e.g., CIP, HTST, DI water) and apply that knowledge to designs. Participate in M. G. Newell field service program. Travel to customer sites for start-up, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting when necessary. Maintain all necessary documentation. Train other M.G. Newell technicians as necessary. Provide hands-on field installation and start-up assistance on assigned projects. Supervise fabrication of control panels in shop as necessary. Conduct training for customers on installed equipment. Create documentation to support installations. Project a positive, professional image to the customer, both internal and external. Be alert for ways to solve customer problems and communicate with others within M. G. Newell when opportunities exist. Promote M. G. Newell products and services whenever REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree Required (Engineering discipline preferred) ISA-88 batch programming experience highly desirable Experience with PLC and HMI coding required (Allen Bradley required, Inductive Ignition or Siemens a plus). Experience with SCADA systems (FactoryTalk, Ignition, iFix, etc.) highly desirable. Willing to travel 35% /- of the time A proven track record in Project Management would be an advantage Strong communication skills and an ability to work without close supervision in a team-based environment High energy level, strong work ethic, and leadership by example Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously M.
