Breakwater Strategy, a strategic communications and capital markets insights agency, is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Associate to join our growing team. Breakwater advises companies, brands, coalitions and non-profits on how to navigate change, crises, and complexities. We leverage our expertise in primary public opinion research and data analytics to provide an insights-driven approach in support of our clients facing unique challenges, evaluating strategies, and fueling growth. The position will work closely with senior staff and team members to implement all aspects of primary research projects - including qualitative, quantitative and digital research – and translate findings into actionable recommendations that help inform our capital markets clients’ strategies. RESPONSIBILITIES Draft research instruments including screeners, survey questionnaires, and discussion guides Analyze research results and develop visual presentations of findings with actionable recommendations Manage relationships with research vendors for multiple projects with competing timelines Contribute to the continuous improvement of research methods and processes to drive strategic direction of the capital markets practice Collaborate with cross-functional teams, supporting strategic communications engagements Support new business initiatives through research, proposal development, and pitches Provide dedicated assistance to a Partner at the company, offering support with scheduling, organization, and other administrative tasks as needed Travel occasionally for research or client engagements ATTRIBUTES Relevant internship or work experience in investor relations, market research, political campaigns, or a related position in financial communications or consulting industries Experience conducting qualitative, quantitative, and/or digital research projects and a deep interest in understanding people and data (preferred) Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work ethic, and resourcefulness Strong writer and analytical thinker Quick learner with interest in working across industries and business types Adaptable and can multitask in the face of new and competing conditions and deadlines Extremely organized and detail-oriented Collaborative team player. Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment Solid knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Ability to work flexibly in other programs like Google Docs, Slides, etc. Familiarity with online analytics tools (e.g., Brandwatch, Meltwater) and/or survey platforms (e.g., Qualtrics) is a plus Agency or consulting experience is a plus
