Job Description Weakley & Arendt, PC is in search of a dependable legal administrative assistant with experience in civil litigation. This position requires an individual who possesses strong attention to detail, is self-motivated, and is able to work collaboratively with other staff. The successful candidate must be able to perform a variety of legal secretarial and administrative support duties, many of which are unique to a legal environment and require a working knowledge of concepts, terminology, and processes. May involve local travel to courthouses, law firms, etc. to pick up or deliver documents. Job Requirements Working knowledge of state and federal court procedures and deadlines Ability to plan for and adhere to deadlines Ability to prioritize and multitask Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Word Perfect Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to effectively communicate with witnesses, clients, colleagues, and attorneys Job Duties · Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents such as notices of deposition, discovery requests, and settlement documents by independently reviewing files for the information needed · Calendar deadlines · Transcribe legal documents · Proofread legal documents · Maintain calendars and schedules for two or more attorneys · Schedule, coordinate, and confirm court dates, appointments, depositions, and making travel arrangements · Provide daily reminders to attorneys on deadlines for all pleadings and discovery matters · Assist with preparation of trial exhibits · Set up new case files · File and sort mail · Other tasks as needed Benefits Paid vacation and holidays Medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) with employer contribution Pay $48,000-58,000 per year Hours Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. This is an on-site position.
