The team has an average of 19 years of industry experience, and is dedicated to writing only these coverages, which include: Commercial Property Coverage, Inland Marine Coverage, Builder's Risk, Contractor's Equipment and Motor Truck Cargo.​ T he Property & Inland Marine Division is looking for an Associate Underwriter to join their team. This individual will b e based in our Houston, TX office and will offer a hybrid work environment. E ssential Responsibilities ​A dministers and monitors underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. Reviews, documents, and/or underwrites new and renewal policy transactions within written authority.M ay enter policy information on an assigned product, territory and / or agency in accordance with template rules.P roofs / audits policy information on an assigned product, territory, and/or agency(ies).R eviews premium and loss data on an individual account as part of renewal underwriting, change underwriting, or mid-term underwriting.R eviews insurance applications and other risk documentation. Reviews underwriting requirements and refers applications, endorsement requests, or other correspondence for further underwriting analysis when outside of written authority.O rders, reviews, and takes appropriate action on required reports, endorsement requests, service requests, and general correspondence.A nalyzes individual risk pricing for new business submissions and renewals within written authority.C ommunicates with agents, brokers and customers to obtain information needed to underwrite risks and address issues. Researches and responds to questions from agents.M ay provide support to underwriter(s).G athers information on new and renewal business and change requests to support underwriter decision making.O rganizes the underwriting information to speed decision making on the part of the underwriter.I nvestigates discrepancies in the information gathered.M ay include "template" policy review and actions such as endorsement within assigned authority level.P rovides information to Processing that is needed to issue policies and endorsements on a timely basis. May issue, process or code transactions.M onitors entry / processing to ensure data integrity and to avoid potential systemic issues.M ay provide guidance to less experienced staff and serve as a resource to other functional areas.P osition requires travel, 10% of the time.P erforms other duties as assigned. J ob RequirementsE ducation: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.F ield of Study: Liberal Arts, Business or a related discipline.E xperience: Generally, 3 to 6 years of related experience. Progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred; appropriate certifications could include Associate in Underwriting (AU), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Program in General Insurance (INS) or Associate of Risk Management (ARM).
