These initiatives are additionally supported by our memberships in U PRI and NICSA Diversity Project North America.” Position Overview: The Fuel Supply Analyst plays a crucial role with AlphaGen via the analysis of fuel contract margins and plays within assets and markets. This role will closely watch and track fuel prices, have knowledge of asset management contracts, analyze market trends (historical data; market reports; supply/demand analysis; economic indicators, including pricing, exchange rates, inflationary measures; market dynamics; regulatory changes; forecasting/modeling and others), and provide consultation that will serve to guide trading and strategic business decisions and fuel strategies. The Fuel Supply Analyst will partner with finance, risk, legal, and other teams to create efficient environments for ensuring that all fuel-related financial liabilities will be a resource contributing to AlphaGen’s overall profitability. Role and Key Responsibilities: Tracks and analyzes fuel prices, market trends, conditions, and other relevant data to provide forecast influencing cost. Utilizes forecasting, modeling, and contract analysis to identify margin and cost-saving opportunities, as well as potential market changes. Provides analytical support for the preparation of AlphaGen forecasting. Assembles, maintains, and analyzes fuel data to support business strategy. Ascertains and assesses potential risks associated with fuel procurement and potential price volatility. Develops, augments, and prepares recommendations for risk mitigation strategies. Prepares timely reports related to fuel cost performance, fuel cost variances, and fuel cost market trends for AlphaGen leadership which clearly explains the critical findings and provides appropriate courses of action. Partners with finance, operations, and other teams to align sourcing strategies, cost management, and potential market liabilities. Maintains current knowledge base on national, and regional fuel markets, including any and all impactful regulatory changes, geopolitical events, technological advances, economic conditions, and environmental policies. Professional and Educational Requirements: 1-3 years of experience in cost analysis, or financial analysis, preferably in the energy, utilities, or commodities sector. High levels of proficiency with Excel, SQL, Python, VBA (Power BI, R, and Tableau are preferable additions). Demonstrated strengths as a highly analytical problem-solver with an ability to translate complex data and make informed decisions. Expertise, or minimum of high levels of proficiency, in financial modeling and forecasting tools. Excellent communication skills leading to an ability to present complex data in a clear and concise manner. Advanced Excel skills. Proficiency with data analysis software. Experience working in, and a knowledge of, energy markets, fuel supply chains, and related regulatory frameworks is strongly preferred. Strong preference for an analyst with a gas background possessing a desire to learn power. Bachelors degree in Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science.
