Locum Physician (MD/DO) - Gastroenterology in Virginia

Job Title: Locum Tenens Physician Job Specialty: Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology Job Duration: Ongoing, 2 weeks per month Shift: Day - 5x8 - 8:00AM - 4:30PM, plus night call Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Fellowship complete (2 years) License: Board Certification Eligible Certifications: Not required (ABLS, ACLS, BLS, PALS) Must-Have: - Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder, and injection of varices - Lower GI endoscopy including sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy with biopsy and excision of polyp - Small bowel biopsy - Esophageal dilatation/manometry and interpretation - Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) - Liver biopsy Job Description: - Provide coverage for hospital and clinic from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. along with night call as scheduled - Handle approximately 20 patient encounters per shift - Participate in orientation of 150 hours - Requires the ability to perform both upper and lower GI procedures with expertise - Expected to manage patients with a high degree of competence in gastroenterology - Contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment Additional Information: - Estimated credentialing timeframe is 30 days - The facility does not require board certification - Opportunities may extend for additional weeks depending on need - Nearest Airport: Tri-City Airport, Blountville, TN - Lodging Recommendations: Holiday Inn Express, Claypool Hill, VA
