Position Overview The Business Development Senior Director – Naval Business will lead new business opportunities and manage customer relationships among naval business stakeholders. This position will partner with the leadership team to drive the organization’s strategic growth objectives in the naval market by developing and refining an understanding of customers’ most important needs and creating a leading strategy. This individual will identify, qualify, and lead pursuits for naval shipbuilding program opportunities. In addition, this individual will plan and recommend BD and marketing strategies to achieve maximum customer and market penetration and to drive tactical and strategic growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Obtain market intelligence and competitive data, including relevant industry developments/trends and opportunities Support creation and execution of multi-year business development strategy Grow the opportunity pipeline through diligent and timely identification/qualification of new business opportunities, including pre-RFP development activities Develop and execute strategic plans for the pursuit and successful winning of priority opportunities Consistent interface at all levels of management including customers, government, suppliers, competitors, partners, etc. Coordinate bid proposals and participate in bid decisions, development of cost strategies and phase reviews Lead capture strategy for opportunities we have agreed to pursue Promote the company, its capabilities and commitment to the US defense market in line with company strategy and policies Responsible for creating and maintain key relationships among Navy, USG, and key partners Work as part of the cross-functional team across the organization (Operations, Finance, Program Management, Engineering) Support evaluation of potential M&A opportunities and support respective projects Coordination with other Hanwha affiliates (e.g., Hanwha Philly Shipyard, Hanwha Systems, Hanwha Ocean) All other duties as assigned Qualifications/ Experience Minimum of 15 years of relevant Business Development experiences Understanding of US naval landscape Demonstrated success in leading and winning contracts Ability to identify, establish and use important customer relationships with senior level officials and program stakeholders within defense community Direct and support new business development opportunities to improve the company’s business portfolio to include marketing and customer call plans Knowledge of Government contracting (e.g., DoD acquisition process) and current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors Knowledge of competitors and ability to model competitor behaviors in the market Former Navy preferred, well-plugged into current Navy programs and related stakeholders Must be able to obtain a secret level security clearance Education Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related field Special Knowledge / Skills Excellent written/verbal presentation and listening skills, and the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with executive level professionals Attention to detail and comfort with data driven decision making Has the ability to interpret technical specifications and/or requirements Must be ambitious and eager to take on new assignments/duties Ability to work harmoniously in a multi-cultural team environment Physical Demands / Work Environment Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to travel domestically (25%) and occasionally internationally (10%) required. This job position may include access to controlled information or technology covered under applicable U.S. export control laws.
