We specialize in small business ownership and we have been helping our clients in the Houston area with their tax preparation, tax planning, and bookkeeping for over 40 years. Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Advanced Tax Preparer/Advisor with strong problem-solving skills to join our team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Prepare individual and business tax returns, including complex ones, (1040, 1120-S, 1120, 1065, 990 and 1041). Analyze financial information, focus on getting to the root of the problem or issue and provide appropriate responses and resolutions, with an ability to clearly communicate to clients with varying levels of business acumen. Effectively communicate with clients at all phases but especially in the gathering information and providing timely updates phases. Complete tax return reviews of returns prepared by other preparers. Assist clients with tax planning and advisory services. Research and resolve complex tax issues and questions. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws and regulations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Ability to spot problems or inconsistencies in client provided documents and be familiar with bookkeeping/accounting to answer client questions and be a support to our internal bookkeeping team. Utilize tax preparation software, preferably Lacerte, though experience with other tax software will be considered. Experience with CRM software, ZOHO preferred, and integration in the tax return preparation process. Maintain a professional demeanor and timely work habits. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and correctly prioritize multiple projects. Qualifications CPA or EA certification obtained or in the process of obtaining either within the next 12 months. At least 3-5 years of experience in complex tax return preparation Ability to follow processes and procedures. Strong client-facing skills and professional communication. High attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability and willingness to work expanded hours during peak periods, i.e. tax season and extension deadlines or as needed to complete assigned workload.
