Senior Payroll & Benefits Manager

Position Overview : We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll and Benefits Manager to oversee the payroll and benefits functions for our beverage company. This individual will manage payroll processing for approximately 2,000 employees across 12 manufacturing plants nationwide. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in payroll management, benefits administration, and compliance within a corporate setting, with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory adherence. Key Responsibilities : Payroll Management : Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for approximately 2,000 employees across multiple locations, nationwide. Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, overtime, and deductions and expenses. Maintain and update payroll systems for employee status changes, pay rate adjustments, and deductions. Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies. Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including tax withholdings, garnishments, and other payroll-related deductions. Benefits Administration : Manage the administration of employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives. Act as the primary point of contact for benefits inquiries from employees, ensuring effective communication and guidance. Oversee open enrollment periods, benefits vendor relationships, and ensure benefits offerings align with company goals. Ensure compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA, COBRA, and other applicable laws. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting : Stay up to date with federal and state labor laws and ensure payroll and benefits compliance. Prepare and submit various reports, including tax filings (e.g., 941, 940), wage and hour compliance, and other regulatory filings as required. Conduct audits to ensure payroll and benefits data accuracy and integrity. Cross-functional Collaboration : Work closely with the HR, Accounting, and IT teams to enhance payroll processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy. Partner with HR on new hire and termination processes to ensure smooth transitions in payroll and benefits management. Assist with the implementation of new payroll or benefits systems and processes. Process Improvement : Identify and recommend improvements to payroll and benefits processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and employee satisfaction. Analyze payroll and benefits trends, providing recommendations to senior leadership regarding potential program adjustments. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of payroll management experience, including multi-state payroll, within a corporate environment. Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paycor, Workday, Ceridian). Expertise in benefits administration, with familiarity in both voluntary and mandatory employee benefits programs. Experience in managing payroll and benefits for large, multi-location organizations. Knowledge of federal and state labor laws, FLSA, ACA, and other regulations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization. Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with integrity. Additional Information : This role is based in the corporate headquarters but will require collaboration with employees and plant managers nationwide. Occasional travel may be required to manufacturing plants for on-site support and training. This position requires you to be on-site, Monday – Friday with some flexibility.
