Installs or repairs lamps and fixtures, power outlets, and switches. Maintains and repairs air conditioning unit. Essential Functions/ Job Competencies/ Physical Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Installs conduits, wires, pull boxes, switchboards, controllers, and switches required in making additions, extensions, or alterations in electrical systems. Tests, locates, and repairs trouble in electrical circuits and equipment; repairs and replaces defective parts in motors, generators, storage batteries, switchboards, controllers, contractors, switches, and other fixtures and appliances. Maintains a stock of selected electrical supplies; prepares reports and maintains records. Services, repairs, and maintains lighting, power, heating, and traffic lights, as assigned. Provides advice and guidance to individuals responsible for appliance, bulb, ballast, and light fixture repair. Will be required to drive a City vehicle for City business use. Performs related work as required. At least five (5) years of responsible electrical work experience Valid Licenses and Certifications Required Licenses or Certifications Valid Master Electrician License from the State of Texas is required Valid Texas Driver License. If applicant holds an out-of-state license, a State of Texas Driver License must be obtained within 6 months of employment. As part of the minimum requirements for all positions with the City of Laredo, a thorough background check and certified school transcripts will be required from all applicants who are offered employment.
