We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including infrastructure, roadways, bridges, utilities, and other large-scale projects. This role requires a deep understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices to ensure competitive and precise project bidding. Key Responsibilities: Estimate Preparation: Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed cost estimates. Perform quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment. Develop comprehensive estimates for all project phases, including conceptual, preliminary, and final bids. Bid Management: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather input for accurate pricing. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure competitive pricing. Prepare and submit bids in alignment with project deadlines. Cost Analysis: Research and analyze historical data for trends and insights to refine estimating techniques. Identify potential risks and opportunities to provide value engineering options. Track and update unit pricing for materials and labor to reflect current market conditions. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project teams to understand scope, schedule, and deliverables. Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather critical project details. Communicate estimate assumptions and methodologies to internal and external stakeholders. Software and Documentation: Utilize estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam) to generate estimates. Maintain detailed records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting documents for future reference. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an estimator in the heavy civil construction industry. Skills: Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail. Comprehensive understanding of heavy civil construction techniques, equipment, and materials. Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator [CPE]) are a plus. Key Competencies: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
