Locum Physician (MD/DO) - Gastroenterology in Illinois

Job Title: Physician Job Specialty: Gastroenterology Job Duration: 3 months, ongoing Shift: Day 7 on 7 off, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (rotation of days, evenings, and weekends) Guaranteed Hours: Full-time, minimum of 7 days/month Experience: Minimum 1 years License: IL License required; IMLC candidates will be reviewed Certifications: BLS, ACLS, DEA Must-Have: Board Certification, COVID and Flu vaccination Job Description: - Responsible for providing gastroenterological care to adult patients in an inpatient setting. - Perform required procedures including esophageal dilatation, small bowel biopsy, lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and insertion/management of Sengstaken/Blakemore Tube. - Conduct types of upper GI endoscopy: with biopsy, with foreign body removal, with fulguration of bleeder (cautery), with banding of varices, and with ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic). - Involvement in PEG (Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) procedures. - Maintain and update patient records using EMR systems such as EPIC/Provation for GI Procedure documentation. - Collaborate with support staff, including Advanced Practice Providers (APP). - Participate in night call for urgent cases. - Ensure adherence to credentialing timeframe of 60-90 days. - Maintain a patient load averaging 14 cases per day, subject to variation. This position offers a dynamic rotation, allowing for a balance of professional activity and personal flexibility.
